Do you prefer tight or loose timelines?

An important part of my job as a design partner is being flexible to your needs. In my first blog post, I shared the 4 principles of communication that I practice every day. Through those principles, I begin to understand your needs. Today, I’d like to share how that open communication turns into a flexible and efficient way of working together – customized just for you!

What are your key deadlines? How tight is comfortable?

Although every project is outlined and has clear deadlines—the same approach doesn’t suit every client. Some respond better to a more fluid timeline, while others prefer a tighter one. Depending on your goals and unique preferences, I give careful consideration to your project timeline.

Here’s a sample of a more fluid/looser timeline (for a recent client):

What makes this timeline more fluid is that there aren’t many deadlines
and few have specific dates. Instead, you’ll see more general time periods like “by end of January” and “by early April”.

Here’s a sample of a tighter timeline (for a recent client):

What makes this timeline tighter is that the project is broken down into many smaller deadlines – all with specific dates.

My ultimate goal is that your deadlines are met – and the process is seamless, pleasant and respectful of how you work best. This leads to the best outcomes! Case in point – the website featured in the tighter timeline example launched a week ahead of schedule to the delight of the client.

If you have an upcoming project, and would like to see this process in action – let’s talk.
